Delete account

Leaving? Here is exactly how.

Deleting your account is simple, immediate, and final. No retention tricks, no hoops.

In short
  • Delete from Settings in the app, or email us.
  • Your memories are removed from this iPhone for good.
  • A paid membership is cancelled separately, through Apple.

Delete in the app

Open Before You Forget and go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm; once you do, your account and the information attached to it are deleted.

Can’t get into the app? Email help@beforeyouforget.ai from the address on your account. We will verify it is you and delete the account.

Cancel your membership separately

Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, and request refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple handles billing, so we cannot cancel or refund for you.

what happens to what

Your account, meaning the email address and membership record attached to it, is deleted when you confirm.

Memories on your device are yours and stay on your device. Deleting the app deletes them; you can export your archive first.

Memories in iCloud backup, if you turned backup on, live in your own iCloud account under your Apple Account, not on servers of ours. You can remove them from the app’s backup settings before you go.

What we keep: nothing, except support emails you have sent us, and we will gladly delete those too if you ask.
